Children who are of Primary School age, undergo the following sacraments:
- Baptism
- First Reconciliation
- First Holy Communion
- Confirmation
Our Parish offers lessons for all sacramental candidates.
We have dynamic Sacramental Programs for school-aged children are at the heart of the life of our Parish community. They touch and revitalise our faith community. Families involved are treasured and prayed for by the wider community, as parents prepare their children to receive the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. The sacramental programs at our Parish are community-based, with Volunteers from the Parish community, guiding and teaching candidates about the Sacrament and its importance. The wider community is also called to pray for our sacramental candidates, during communal celebrations. One way this is done is through Prayer Cards, where the names of people who are especially praying for a Candidate are written down onto the candidate’s prayer card. It encourages prayer and also motivates candidates, as they know that they are being prayed for during their time of preparation to receive a sacrament. The initiation of children into the sacramental life is the responsibility of the whole parish community into which they are being initiated. Parents, also play a key role, as they gradually increase a spirit of faith in their children, and with the help of the parish community prepare them for the fruitful reception of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. The role of the parents is also expressed by their active participation in the celebration of sacraments.
