The Legion Of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland on 7th September 1921. It is a lay Catholic organisation whose members are giving service to the church on a voluntary basis in almost every country.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Churches work.
The Legion of Mary admits active and auxiliary members. The former attend a weekly meeting and are allocated work which contributes to the work of the Parish; such as visiting the sick, acting as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and leading state school scripture lessons. Auxiliary members support with their prayers, the work of the Legion.
The Aims of the Legion
